Clarifying Identity: Distinguishing Two Randy Whites
Question: I am wondering, is Bishop Randy White the same person who once pastored Without Walls International Church in Tampa, Florida? I was once part of his ministry years ago. I have been praying for him and hope he is doing well.
I am not the Randy White who served as bishop at Without Walls International Church in Tampa, Florida. We are two different individuals who happen to share the same name.
To reduce confusion, I sometimes use the designation "Dr. Randy White." At one point this confusion was compounded by the fact that I lived in Tampa, Texas, while he was in Tampa, Florida. In those days, invitations to speak occasionally reached me that were clearly intended for him, based on the expectations expressed about theology and ministry style. Even today, from time to time, people contact me assuming I am that Randy White.

The theological differences between us are substantial. I am a fundamentalist, Mid-Acts dispensationalist. My teaching emphasizes a literal, grammatical-historical interpretation of Scripture, a clear distinction between Israel and the Body of Christ, and the uniqueness of the dispensation of the grace of God. I reject charismatic theology and the idea that God is presently working through sign gifts or ongoing revelatory experiences in the way associated with much of contemporary charismatic and latter rain–type teaching.
The Randy White you were associated with has been part of a charismatic, evangelical stream that expects ongoing miraculous manifestations, fresh words from God, and a more continuous interventionist activity of God in world events. My perspective is that, in this present dispensation, God is not actively working in history through miraculous sign gifts or prophetic utterances; he is working through the completed Scriptures and the proclamation of the gospel of grace.
If you were part of his ministry and are now encountering mine, you will quickly notice that the doctrinal emphases, hermeneutics, and ecclesiology are markedly different. I would encourage you, if you choose to listen further, to bring your questions, especially the hard ones. Comparing what you once heard with what you hear now may help clarify both where the differences lie and why they matter biblically.
